Allison Tyler is a native Coloradan, with family roots that go back to the late 1800s. Her great-grandmother arrived in Colorado after walking from Illinois, leading a horse named Beulah. A great-great uncle, Frank Davis Hart, was an Elbert County Judge. She lives with her husband and children in Colorado Springs, down the road from her parents’ apple orchard in Penrose. In harvest season, you might reach her on her cell phone picking apples. Allison graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder, with a B.A. degree in 1987. She got her juris doctorate law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1991. She is a member of the Colorado and Oregon bar associations. Ms. Tyler is admitted to the Federal Courts for the District of Oregon and to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. She is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR.) Working with Social Security cases since 1992, Ms. Tyler also developed expertise working with doctors and medical evidence by handling thousands of Oregon workers' compensation cases between 1991-2003. “I have always intentionally operated a smaller-volume practice,” Ms. Tyler says. “I am very hands-on with my clients. I do the intake, the initial client meeting, the hearing prep meeting, and of course the hearing. I try to convey to my clients the fact that I will personally be handling the case, and that they can contact me any time and I will talk to them about what is going on.”
